Services
Technical master plan of system groups 1 – 3, 7 (lab technology, media supply, gases for laboratory) and 8 according to § 53 HOAI (2013), performance phases 2 – 8

Project scope
The gross floor area of the Leibniz-Institut DSMZ in Braunschweig is 2,800 m².

Design Description

  • Addition of 4th story to existing building during operations as well as remodel of the 3rd story
  • Qualification of existing and new rooms/labs according to safety level BSL-2 (S2 GenTSV / L2 BioStV)
  • Subdivision of water network into two separate systems to avoid potential dangers through utilization in labs according to DIN 1988-600
  • Installation of a heat distributor with 2 circuits in a new heating center:
    • static heating 3rd and 4th floor, temperature and volume control
    • Reheating air ventilation a technology system, unregulated (feed-in to circulation system with volume control)
  • Room air conditioning is achieved through pre-cooling the supply air (approx. 30 W/m² in the labs) and, for interior loads, additionally through a decentralized air conditioning system. For air conditioned rooms that are heated, motorized radiator actuators are used to avoid simultaneous heating and cooling
  • All fire dampers were fitted with limit switches and connected to the DDC system
  • At night, the labs are set to reduced operating mode (sleep mode with, for example, 30% of the required lab air volume)
